phpbb v3 upgrade problem

Ive just installed phpbb v3.0.1
I was previously using v2
i had backed up all my posts but now don't know
where to put my v2 sql. back up so that my old
posts and layout appear on the new version.
(oops think i might have messed things up)

To convert from v2 to v3 you need the v2 board installed. Best put things back and do the conversion from there.
