Hello,
In vBulletin the categories are just innactive forums, so go to your ACP, create a new forum and then select "Act as a forum?" (or something like that) and select 'no' (the description says; "If no, will act as a category).
Next to create forums, just do it as if you were creating subforums to that forum.

Greetings,
I guess, am not reading well ;) thanks Reiji. really, for me, vBulletin is very complicated. i guess, there's still more i have to explore first, before handing it to a live forums. anyhow, thanks for the help;

You´re welcome.
Actually vBulletin isn´t as hard as it seems, its a lot easier once you start working with it.
I´m coding for vBulletin, phpBB and MyBB right now and I can tell you, they are pretty easy to know, just give it time.

Hello,
Try MyBB, is really similar to vB, although MyBB is newer so t doesn´t have all that stuff yet (support, mods, themes, etc.)...but its growing pretty fast.

Hello,
To vBulletin mostly yes, as they have a great source of converters (more info at the vbulletin.org forums).
To MyBB you can find some converters in their forum, but none is completely functional yet. They are currently developing an importer (very good imo) but it will not be available until release 1.4 (they´re currently at 1.2) so you´ll have to wait for a fully functional converter to mybb.
